What are Gentle Boundaries & How are they Different?

Gentle boundaries are firm limits that are communicated with kindness, clarity, and respect. Unlike ‘traditional’ boundaries that may feel like walls or punishments, gentle boundaries act like a “Welcome Mat” that defines where your space begins while still inviting healthy and secure connection. Setting gentle boundaries in a relationship is about protecting emotional safety 
while maintaining a commitment to connection. Gentle Boundaries help to create balance in relationships, ensuring that both parties feel heard, understood, respected, and valued which prevents feelings of resentment and exhaustion that can arise from overextending ourselves to please others. Setting boundaries is not about being harsh or unkind; rather, it is about being clear
and respectful about our needs and limits.
I believe the biggest difference between setting traditional boundaries and setting gentle boundaries is that traditional boundaries only considers the impact of the individual and the individual’s needs; whereas, Gentle Boundaries focuses on the individuals needs AND protects the relationship at the same time which is a quite the skill to navigate BUT when you learn how to navigate it, you will find yourself in much deeper, safer, more loving, and more connected relationships in EVERY ASPECT OF YOUR LIFE!

Hi, I’m Melissa Sorell

I’m a Registered Clinical Supervisor (RCS), Master Therapeutic Counsellor (MTC), and Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC) #2484 with ACCT.

I help people create healthy, strong, and connecting relationships by teaching them how to set and secure gentle boundaries within ALL of their relationships. I believe that lack of boundaries and ability to stay emotionally regulated while setting boundaries underlie most relational issues and my ability is area of expertise is helping you set GENTLE boundaries that are firm yet compassionate limits to protect your peace in a way that doesn’t damaging your relationships.

Parenting, partnership, and personal growth can be complicated and complex. I’m passionate and dedicated to helping people transform their attachments patterns and unlock the key to deeply satisfying relationships.

 I can teach you simple and effective techniques that will help you to break-free from people-pleasing, over-functioning, over-delivering, and ignoring your own needs so you can finally live the life that you deserve!

I believe that everyone deserves to be heard, supported, and valued and everyone has the ability to achieve their goals and dreams. I know that in order to get there, you need someone on your side, someone to support you, hold you accountable and celebrate your successes. I will be there to support you every step of the way!
